Dempseys Brewery, Pub

Dempsey’s Brewing Co. has served Watertown since 1999 and describes itself as the second-oldest brewery in South Dakota. The family-run brewpub on North Broadway has more than 21 tap lines pouring house beers, guest taps, and house root beer and cream soda. A full liquor bar carries a large selection of Irish whiskey, and a 15-seat wooden bar anchors the room. The scratch kitchen bakes its own bread, grinds its own beef and cuts its own steaks. The menu mixes European and American dishes, from a wiener schnitzel based on the owner’s grandmother’s recipe to steaks, pasta and pizza. Owner Sean Dempsey competes as part of the U.S. Pizza Team and has won several awards for his pizzas. The restaurant seats more than 160, with deck seating in summer and a fireplace in winter, and flags hang throughout. Reservations and online orders are available.
