Altered Species Ales

Altered Species Ales is a brewery and taproom in Sioux Falls. Its name reflects a science-based approach to brewing combined with a love of nature. The brewers point out that beer’s main ingredients are agricultural products, and that breeding and engineering yeast, hops and grain to produce new flavors alters them from their original species. Beer made on site is poured in several sizes and sold in four-packs to go. The taproom also carries beer from other breweries, along with wine, cider, seltzers, non-alcoholic beer, gluten-free beer and soda. The space was designed around ideas gathered while traveling and the goal of creating a living taproom filled with plants. It is family-friendly and dog-friendly, with leashed dogs welcome. Pizza is available from a local partner, Pizza Cheeks, and guests may bring in outside food. The brewery also offers a membership program and gift cards.
