Look’s Beer Co.

Look’s Beer Company is the brewery at Look’s Marketplace, a Sioux Falls food business whose roots go back to 1883. That year Carl Look, the youngest of 13 brothers, arrived after completing a three-year butchering apprenticeship in Germany. He opened a butcher shop with his brother August at Seventh and Main downtown. In 1891 he started his own shop at Eighth and Main, where he became known for quality and for greeting regular customers by name. His son Roy later joined the business, and Carl passed it to his children before he died in 1941. Ownership has changed hands over the years, but the business still emphasizes quality products and guest care. Today the marketplace includes a restaurant, grocery, butcher shop, bakery, deli and catering, along with the brewery. Food from the marketplace can be ordered online.
